Singer Tom Goss in S.A. for concert to benefit LGBT scholarship fund
QSanAntonio.com, May 5, 2012

Singer-songwriter Tom Goss will be in San Antonio on May 26 to perform his second annual benefit concert for the LEAGUE Foundation's college scholarship program for LGBT youth.

The garden concert and cocktail reception will be held at the home of Steve Annala, Alan Beckstead and Danny Lerma.

In honor of his visit to San Antonio, Goss has created a YouTube video (below) where he sings and invites the community to his concert.

Goss is a unique performer among gay singer-songwriters -- a former Catholic seminarian turned guitar-toting troubadour who heartfelt lyrics, hooky melodies and quirky charm have earned him a dedicated national following.

Since he started performing in DC coffeehouses in 2006, the tireless 30-year-old hasn't let any moss grown under this trademark flip-flops. He's recorded two full-length CS, two EPs, a live DVD, four music videos and nearly 500 shows in 100 cities across the US.

His latest CD, Los Songs and Underdogs was released in April prior to his national tour this spring.

Tom Goss performs a breakfast concert last year for clients at the San Antonio AIDS Foundation.

Like his music, Goss' story is a mix of struggle and spirit. A native of Kenosha, Wisconsin, he spent his high school and college years as a wrestler, leaving the family sport of of gymnastics for one better suited to his teenage aggression.

Following a brief stint as a teacher, he moved to Washington, DC, in 2004 to enter a Catholic seminary. It didn't go as planned. He abandoned his quest to become a priest, but not his desire to spread a message of hope and reconciliation through his music. Now, he wins followers across the country with his music.
