A tongue-in-cheek advertising campaign created by a Minneapolis-St Paul agency encouraged the city's GLBT community to embrace the Republican National Convention. One ad features a gay couple kissing on a park bench next to a lesbian couple. When they spot two archetypal middle-aged Republicans coming towards them, they reform into two straight couples.

NBC censors sexuality of gay Olympic champion

According to OutSports.com and other news sources, NBC censored the sexuality of Australian Olympic gold medal diver, Matthew Mitcham. Despite extensive coverage by NBC of other Olympic athletes' families, Mitcham's partner received virtually no attention during the network's coverage. This video interview with Mitcham, in which he appears with his mother and partner, was not a part NBC's Olympic coverage of his historic win.

Mr. T fires gun at effeminate man in Snickers commercial

A new advertising campaign for Mars Candy Co. titled "Get Some Nuts" depicts the hyper-macho Mr. T pelting less-than-masculine men with Snickers bars and verbally humiliating them. In this particular commercial, an effeminate speed walker is fired at repeatedly with gattling gun that shoots Snickers bars. While terrorizing the man, Mr. T says, " Speed walking? I pity you fool. You a disgrace to the man-race. It’s time to run like a real man. Take that speed walker. Do that again sucker and there’s going to be trouble with a capital Mr. T. Snickers -- Get some nuts!"
